In this biopic, Keanu Reeves plays the French general and President Charles de Gaulle at the end of his life. The movie starts as the republican leader is shamed out of office after his Senate reform proposal fails to pass. De Gaulle retreats into solitude. The Death of Charles de Gaulle is a character study and a psychological exploration of agony, lost glory and suffering. Reeves dies at the end.
Tagline: He liberated France from the Nazis, but he couldn’t liberate his soul.
